Hummus

Smooth and Easy
For years we had been purchasing hummus at the store. We found a brand we liked, but when we realized how easy it is to make, we started to make it at home. This is the basic recipe. On occasion we have added roasted red bell peppers, artichokes, and other extras to change it up. We hope you enjoy this recipe!

Sauteed Lobster Tail

A Small Plate or a Meal
Recently we decided to do “Small Plate Fridays – Dinner and a Movie” to sample different foods at home. This lets us enjoy food throughout the movie. Many small plates can be either made or prepped in advance, and many are quick to make. So we are going to keep adding new small plates to our site – to share some of the best. Our first small plate: Sauteed Lobster Tail with Risotto

Homemade Ricotta

For Appetizers or Entrees
When I lived in NY and NJ - I was spoiled by all of the Italian delis that sold homemade Ricotta and Mozzarella. Moving to Dallas area, I couldn't get my favorite store bought brand, and missed "great Ricotta". So when Randy and I found out I could make- we experimented until we had success. Rich and creamy - delicious when right out of the pot and warm, or cold.

Spicy Tex-Mex Shrimp Cocktail

Some Like it Hot
This is Randy's rendition of of a Tex-Mex Shrimp Cocktail. We have each had many versions of this dish, but this is our favorite. This recipe makes a lot and is great for a party! But you can cut the portions to make it for a date night!

Shrimp Tower

With Avocado and Mango
This can be made as an appetizer or as a meal. The combination of flavors are light and bright - a welcome meal. You can serve as a tower, or simply place on a plate with a spoon. Serve with a green salad if served as a meal.

Deviled Eggs

Spicy or Not
Our parents would make these for parties - all the time in the 60's and 70's. It seems like something old - but trust us, if you serve deviled eggs - they will go fast, they are timeless.

Artichokes

Stuffed or Plain
I have loved artichokes since I was a child. They were always a special treat. Our family always stuffed them, Italian Style. When I got married, Randy preferred them not stuffed, with either Mayo to dip in, or Aioli. When we have time, we make Aioli. When we do not, Randy uses Mayo and I eat it plain. It is all a matter of your taste!
